Career

Kishore lived a shorter life and died while he was 58 and gave around 41 years to film industry but he gained huge success and a very successful career being as a singer and actor especially.

He started his career as a chorus singer in a renowned Bombay Talkies and later played a role in movie named Shikari which was released in 1946 and his elder brother Ashok Kumar was in lead.

After that a famous music director of that time Khemchand Prakash proposed to sing a song for his movie Ziddi. Kishore was not keen in working as an actor he wanted to become a singer but his brother Ashok advised his to pursue acting just like he does.

Kishore played many roles as an actor in different movies and also with his brother’s help, he pursued some acting assignments but in the mid-50s he took acting seriously and gave some amazing performances.

He pursued his singing passion along with acting and sang many songs in his career. He was thoroughly inspired by K.L. Saigal and Rabindranath Tagore that reflects in his early singing.

He developed a unique style of singing and started yodelling in his songs by getting inspiration from Tex Morton and Jimmie Rodgers and later this style became essential part of his songs. He was also a great admirer of singer Ahmed Rushdi and Danny Kaye.

He pursued a great acting and singing career and worked in thousands of movies along with hundreds of different music directors and co-singers.

Apart from this, he worked as a music director, composer, film director and producer in some movies and some of the got huge appreciation and success at box office.
